Among the most impeccable downtown attractions of San Diego,the San Diego Zoo stands apart for the wide range of flora and fauna it houses. One of the largest in the world the zoo is a domicile to almost 800 different species ,teeming with more than 4,000 animals.
Location of the San Diego Zoo: The Zoo enjoys one of the most prime locations in Balboa Park which happens to be the nerve center of modern entertainment in San Diego city. Lying north of the San Diego downtown,this urban park is ever brimming with life. With a host of theaters, gardens, shops and restaurants there is a galore of other recreation knocking at your doorstep after you have taken a tour of the San Diego Zoo.
Overview of the San Diego Zoo: Strawing over a sylvan landscape of 100 acres,this zoo was founded in the year 1973 and is maintained by the Zoological Society of San Diego. Apart from being a favorite haunt for families and friends during weekends or vacations the San Diego Zoo plays a a pivotal role in education, science and conservation in the context of zoological sciences. The Center for Conservation and Research for Endangered Species located within the premises of the zoo has rendered its significant help to scientists working in this field.
Attractions at the San Diego Zoo: Apart from housing the largest collection of Giant Panda after China,the zoo has host of other endangered species including Tigers, African Black Rhinos,gorillas,reptiles,alligators,birds etc. Teeming with a wild variety of animals,the sanctuary of the zoo has an enviable variety of fauna. The other attractions in the San Diego Zoo include the Giant Panda Research Station,Polar Bear Plunge,Rain Forest Aviary,Flamingo Lagoon,Tiger River,Absolutely Apes,guided tours and a panoramic view from the gondola lift.
