Neighborhoods in San Diego



San Diego lies on the coastal area of California at the southern section. The Pacific Ocean touches the borders of San Diego. The city is densely populated but has retained a calm and friendly atmosphere. The climate of San Diego is Mediterranean type and is pleasant all round the year. There are all means of transportation in San Diego. The climate and travel conveniences has brought about major development in the economy and tourist industry. The city has many opportunities to be successful. Apart from the sea, the city has beautiful locales and natural reserves that add to the scenic grandeur.

Most of the communities and residential areas in San Diego are closely knit. There are community programs and bonding which has helped the city maintain its soothing and comfortable atmosphere.

There are many Neighborhoods in San Diego. Most of the neighborhoods of San Diego has the Mexican element due to the city's proximity to the Mexican border. The names of the neighborhoods are mostly in Spanish. Del Cerro is a neighborhood of San Diego on its eastern part and is mainly a residential place. There are more smaller communities that exist in it. Some of Del Cerro's land is owned by the San Diego State University. Carmel Valley lies on the northern portion of San Diego. This neighborhood houses many industrial estates and residential areas. The name Carmel Valley came from the Carmelite Sisters of Mercy who had built a monastery. There are many private and public schools.

Linda Vista lies on the western part of San Diego. It is a Spanish name meaning Pretty View. It was the first shopping destination in San Diego. The Allied Gardens too lies on the eastern direction, like Del Cerro. Golden Hill lies on the central part of San Diego. This neighborhood of San Diego is the most historically and architecturally rich. There are many old buildings that showcase the gone by era. It is also a very active neighborhood with concerts and musicals held few times in a year.
