Barrett, San Diego

Barrett, San Diego is located at the confluence of Cottonwood and Pine Valley Creek, in a remote area approximately 35 miles east of San Diego. Barret Reservoir of Sun Diego or Lake Barrett is a publicly operated reservoir located behind the locked gates in a remote area of Sun Diego which is so unique. Though the reservoir was closed for many years, but since 1991, its access has been offered on a limited basis by reservation only.

Barrett, San Diego, is one of only two reservoirs in the region along with Upper Otay that operated under highly restricted regulations which have been designed to protect both the fishery and the quality of the fishing experience.

Northern-strain largemouth Black Bass, Bluegill, Bullheads and both white and black Crappie can be found here. Threadfin shad and Silverside Minnows are the primary forage fish.

One household can have only one reservation unless there is ample reservation available after the first day's booking. Photo ID of the reservation holder is required at the reservoir and all the parties have to enter the reservoir at the same time.

No motorized private boats are allowed at Barrett, San Diego. Float tubes, canoes and kayaks are permitted only with a reservation. Rental boats are 14 feet long with 5 HP motors.
